The Details
True to ION's perfect mixture of grip, durability, usability and style, the Ion Scrub AMP MTB Shoes exude quality. Using the Pin Tonic 2.0 sole, ION have developed a shoe to keep you happy through endless runs, all day long. The shoes' quality has been enhanced with new outsole profile features and positive treads in the forefoot and heel area which offer perfect traction for pushing or carrying your bike. The negative profile of the sole also offers excellent grip and space for the pins while riding.
The SUPTraction rubber compound is stickier, but the cushiony EVA midsole and comfy insole are carried over from previous designs. As the grip is just a part of power transmission, the very front toe area features a lower shape to get maximum contact on the pedal.
The shoes wouldn't be complete without extra protection against rocks and roots in the toe area aswell as ankle pads for protection against contact with the cranks.
Key features:
- New ION outsole and profile structure
- SupTraction Rubber compound Soul FL
- Reinforcements in the most exposed and stressed areas
Our Verdict
Here's the Ion Scrub AMP MTB cycling shoe - a technical, stylish flat pedal bike shoe with a grippy sole and protection features at toes and ankle.
Key Specifications
- Ankle pad - extra padding towards the cranks to protect the lower ankles
- ToeTal Protection
- Pre-Shaped Heel
- Lace closure

Footwear Size Guide
Purchasing a pair of cycling shoes for the first time can lead to a lot of questions. We at Rutland Cycling have over 30 years of shoe fitting experience, so here are some key pointers to look out for when buying a new pair:
1. When deciding what size cycling shoes to get, go with your normal shoe size, as cycling shoes typically run true to size. However, if you’re normally between sizes, for example sometimes you go with a 9 and sometimes a 9.5, it’s recommended that you size up.
2. The best time to measure your feet, or to try shoes on is in the afternoon, as this is when they will be at their largest due to your feet naturally tending to swell throughout the day.
3. Cycling shoes are intended to wrap snuggly around the foot as they have been designed with a specific purpose in mind—pedaling. The goal is to try and provide as much lower leg and arch stability as possible and provide you with a stable pedaling platform.
4. With the cycling industry largely originating in Europe, European sizing is the typical standard. The best way to figure out a specific brand size is use a that brand’s conversion chart. However, below is general sizing conversion chart based off conventional UK shoe sizing.
